Research Partnerships, Mentoring, and Collaborations

About

Equine International is proud to partner with organizations and universities to provide valuable research opportunities for students, researchers, and practitioners.  Many of these opportunities begin with conversations between EI, individuals, and their associated organizations (or organizations through which they can find funding).  Collaborations are key to growing research and improving science in equine welfare and equine-human interactions.  The projects below reflect collaborations that were funded by other organizations

AWRN Research Internship: Ethograms

Affiliative Ethograms at Wicken Fen

Equine International is a proud member of the Animal Welfare Research Network (AWRN), an organization that helps fund research and research internships in animal welfare.  A UK doctoral student applied and received funds to join Equine International researchers at Wicken Fen in April of 2025 to continue the development and testing of equine affiliative (friendship and social bonding) behaviors in horses.
