Location: Northumberland College, UK
As part of an ongoing initiative by the British Horse Society to improve horse-human relationships, they are expanding their course offerings to include a new workshop by Dr. Emily Kieson and Bonny Mealand (from Touching Wild) titled "From Theory to Practice: Applying an Equine Perspective" and an evening talk titled "The Wild Horse in Your Stable"
Bonny Mealand and Dr. Kieson work closely on Learning Wild courses that, in addition to teaching people about free-living equids, allows people to experience new perspectives on engaging with horses outside of the traditional training paradigms. Now they will be at Northumberland College (UK) for two days to share some of this research and practical application with public audiences.

Do you spend hacks just waiting for the next spook? Does your horses get so worried about the environment that you forget to enjoy it? Have you both had an accident on a hack that you've lost your confidence in each other?
Join Dr. Emily Kieson and Jessie Sams for a day of practical demonstrations, processing, and application of principles for how you and your horse can prepare for the perfect hack. This is for the human only so there is no need to bring a horse. We will be working with horses on-site who have different levels of experience going on hacks and will be demonstrating techniques for preparing ourselves and our horses for better, safer, and more enjoyable trail rides. We'll demonstrate techniques, discuss the underlying principles and theories, and help participants work through materials so they leave with an actionable plan.
